Living and working in a platform with Victoria thousands of feet in the sky over a devastated Earth. Jack’s is a technician whose job is to fix broken down drones. Jack and Victoria’s memories get erased and all they know is that the planet was invaded and destroyed. Now mankind lives in a spaceship and drones are patrolling the planet destroying the aliens. In two weeks, they will join the remaining survivors on a Titan, a lunar colony on one of Saturn’s moon.
Jack’s soaring existence is brought crashing down after he rescues Julia, beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Jack finds Julia and other humans alive in space capsules when their ship crashes. Julia is drawn to Jack through a connection; her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he thought he knew. He discovers the shocking truth that connects him to Earth of the past and he is pushed to heroism to save humanity.
Jack was captured by rebellious humans led by Beech and realized that much of what he has been taught is far from the truth. He discovered that the drones are killing off the last remaining hostiles called “scavs” who have taken refuge on the edge of a radioactive wasteland that cover most of the globe.
Many of the visuals are stunning. The movie is a visual marvel with the Earth as a wasteland compared to Jack and Victoria’s very sleek and modern living quarters. The ravaged Earth is a stark contrast to the stainless steel and white living quarters.
The movie is not only visually appealing but it also has a great story and most of the characters are well developed although the movie started very slow but the pacing got faster towards the middle.
It stars Tom Cruise as Jack, Morgan Freeman as Beech, Olga Kurylenko as Julia, Melissa Leo as Sally the computer and Andrea Riseborough as Victoria. Directed by Joseph Kosinski.
