Pain and Gain

Pain & Gain 1Pain and Gain is an action comedy starring based on the true story of a group of personal trainers in 1990. The movie is set Miami who, where the personal trainers are in pursuit of the American Dream but they get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong.

Pain & Gain is the story of Daniel Lugo who is a success oriented bodybuilder. He had a plan to kidnap a restaurant owner and forces him to sign his wealth over to him and Christian, Adrian and Paul, his friends who are all also bodybuilders. All of them are iron-pumping and steroid-injecting bodybuilders.

Their plan did not go as plan and went horribly wrong as all of them have no brains. They think that the desire to be successful without intelligence is sufficient enough to become one.Pain & Gain 2

The movie has visual style typical of Michael Bay, the director. The movie is pretty much a satire and mixture of bloody violence and slapstick. It is a violent and dark comedy with a lot of mindless explosions.

Pain & Gain 3Mark Wahlberg is very good as the dump dimwit Lugo; he is not only a good dramatic actor but he is also good in comedy. The other actors are somewhat good too specially Dwayne Johnson who is conflicted with his newfound religious beliefs and his participation in the dastardly plot which returns him to his past of self destructive behavior.

Pain & Gain is a typical movie which would be forgotten after a few months.

Directed by Michael Bay with Mark Wahlberg as Daniel Lugo, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) as Paul Doyle with Ed Harris and Anthony Mackie playing supporting roles.
