Star Trek 3The concept, the story, the conflicts, the themes are all similar to the previous numerous Star Trek’s. Everything in it is a standard issue; we have seen it all before. The movie is made only to make money, purely for business purposes. Putting that aside, the characters are well developed as individuals with endearing qualities. Like its predecessors, the technical aspects of the film is worth the money for the ticket.

  1. Although this is a good one, Star Trek Beyond is much better. Star Trek Into Darkness is your typical Star Trek Beyond is way beyond the regular Star Trek.

  2. Patricia says:

All the Star Trek movies and show have the same storyline; it is becoming redundant. They need to come up with different story lines.

  3. martha of ny says:

Five stars should always be something rare for any movie, so why does this sequel get it? I didn’t notice a single flaw with this movie. I enjoyed every second. It had action, comedy, drama and suspense. J.J. Abrams knows what he is doing and this is a must-see movie.

  4. Yolanda b says:

I very much enjoyed how the alternate timeline parallels the original as to macro events but differs in the details. Characterization was perfect, especially McCoy. Uncanny.

  5. dana says:

Was pleasantly surprised, there are a couple of plot holes, but well done nevertheless. Great action, comedic relief and a great cast make this Sci-Fi romp one of the best so far this year.

  6. Claire says:

JJ Abrams has done great work simplifying Star Trek formula into more actions than story. But it undeniably works. Now Star Trek has bigger audience than ever before. As an avid fan of the series, some of the scenes are a bit too much, but if that’s what it takes to resurrect an old franchise.

  7. Jan S says:

Better than the movie that came out 2009. If this is the direction JJ Abrams is taking with the Star Trek franchise, then I can’t wait to see what he does with Star Wars franchise, excited.

  8. Nancy W. says:

There are lots of subtle bits of dialog and a couple of very quick scenes in the movie that help the plot along and that provide at clues to motives and reasoning so you do have to pay attention rather than just watch.

  9. Robert says:

Into Darkness is, visually, much clearer than its predecessor

  10. MS says:

Not quite as refreshing or fun as the previous films, but very much its own which is a good thing. Fun script but sometimes occasionally derailed by too much fan service and predictable twists.

  11. Sally S says:

Cheesy dialogue but I like the characters some of them are complex, an entertaining plot and some decent acting.

  12. AC of Sta. Clara says:

This is crazy and Im not a Trekkie! I don’t really like Star Trek! I think I’ve seen a few episodes of the Next Generation, but I swear that’s as far as I went I like this one.

  13. Linda H says:

Unless you are a Trekie, this franchise is becoming old and redundant.

  14. Claire says:

I did not think I would like this movie so it really had a lot to prove to me and it did. I loved the non-stop action. J.J. Abrams did a good job.

  15. Patricia M says:

I enjoyed it but it is all popcorn entertainment targeted at teenagers specially teenage boys. Go watch it when you are bored.

  16. Rene says:

I enjoyed it but it is all popcorn entertainment targeted at teenagers specially teenage boys.

  17. Dana Za says:

The final act feels convoluted but Into Darkness is still a gorgeous, action packed and well acted. This latest installment of the franchise is terrific with a much stronger villain.

  18. Adelle M. says:

I’m not sure what everybody was so impressed with this new Star Trek. Abrams reset the Trek universe with his first film; I was hoping this second would tell new stories, instead of just retelling old ones.
