The movie explores the untold story of the iconic villain and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turned her into a villain. She befriended and fell in love with Stefan, a farmer’s son while growing up. Stefan has a grand ambition to be one day living in the palace. This ambition made him betray Maleficent by cutting her mighty wings.
Stefan became king while Maleficent became bitter and driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides; Maleficent places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora.
As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace between her kingdom and the human kingdom and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both kingdoms forever; she became a surrogate mother to Aurora and even tried to reverse the curse she placed on Aurora to no avail.
The movie is about Maleficent rather than Aurora, the sleeping beauty. She has big curvy horns, blood red lips and prominent cheekbones; the movie tells how a fairy with pure heart turns villain because of the greed of another person. The movie gave her a sympathetic story to explain how she became villain.
It has great story with the main character well developed. There are fight scenes but not overly done and not violent. It is visually beautiful which is typical of any Disney movie. Angelina Jolie is fantastic and perfect for the role.
It stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Elle Fanning as Aurora with Imelda Staunton as Knotgrass the fairy, and Sharlto Copley as King Stefan.
