Spotlight 1Spotlight is a true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis on the Catholic Church one of the world’s oldest and most trusted institutions. When the team of reporters in the Boston Globe called the “Spotlight” delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston’s institutions from the church, government and legal system.
While the movie dealt with the infamous scandals of sexual Spotlight 2abuse in the Catholic Church and earning the Best Picture in the most recent Oscar awards, in my opinion the movie itself is not great for it to earn the highest honor in the awards. There is nothing great in the writing, acting and technical aspects. It may be a great TV movie but definitely not Oscar worthy.

Spotlight 3The movie is packed with dialogues and it does hold the interest of the viewer but it should have been better written as a book but not turned into a movie. It is not a bad movie but it is not a memorable one.

It stars Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams and Stanley Tucci; directed and written by Tom McCarthy.

Not worthy material, great as a TV movie definitely not an Oscar winner.

  3. It is a good movie but my opinion not good enough to be a best picture for the Oscars.

  4. I don’t see this movie being a best picture in the Oscars.

This is one of the best movie made last year with great story and the acting is really superb. Very engrossing from the start to the end of the movie.

While the movie is not bad, I don’t see it as Oscar material. Don’t understand how it could be a best picture for the year.

After it’s surprising Oscar win for Best Picture, I went out to see “Spotlight”. An intensely powerful drama that masterfully explores a very delicate subject. If you haven’t seen it yet, I strong recommend it. Great movie.

  9. Most of this was OK but parts were weak writing and bad acting. I did enjoy it overall but did cringe a bit in some parts.

It’s subject is hard to believe and unlike others before focusing on the priests and what they’ve done, this film concentrates on how the story was found and told. Interesting fact based film with a superb cast and greatly acted.

Brilliant cast delivering great performances all across the board and story that should have been so heavy to watch and hard to swallow. But don’t agree it being the best picture.
