Me Before You is adapted from the bestselling novel by JoJo Moyes which is about the relationship between a simple English woman and a wealthy quadriplegic Londoner who hires her as his caretaker.

The relationship is unexpected between the two considering their differences; him a wealthy, educated successful banker with good taste of the finer things of life and her simple, Me Before You 2perky with a quirky taste of clothes. She resembles Ugly Betty, perky and loves “unusual” clothes which makes her standout in a crowed while he likes classical music and highbrow foreign films.

Louisa Clark and her family is having financial difficulties and forced to take job to take care William Traynor a young successful banker but had an accident and became quadriplegic. Being young, successful and athletic, William wanted to die and gave his parents 6 months to change his mind. The parents hired Louisa to help change his mind within this 6 month.

Me Before You 3The film may look typical movie about assisted suicide and about a young energetic, successful man dealing with the consequences of a tragic accident but has several surprises. Although it is dealing with a sensitive and depressing subject, it is not preachy. The two main characters have good chemistry and Emilia Clark as the perky Louisa is did a wonderful job and being an adaptation of a bestselling novel, the plot and writing is excellent. It is an emotional film but did not wallow in heavy drama; it had just the right amount of charm and drama. The right popular music is also used throughout the film to convey what is in the character’s mind.

Overall this is a wonderful uplifting movie which will make you laugh and be sad at the same time. Emilia Clark’s performance is a surprise.

It stars Emilia Clark (from Game of Thrones fame) as Louisa Clark, Sam Claflin (from Hunger Games) as William Traynor, directed by Thea Sharrock and written by Jojo Moyes.

Disagree, Emilia Clarke’s acting is really incredible, how much she’s able to display with her facial expressions and how drastically different of a character she is from Game of Thrones and does it fantastically. Her chemistry with Sam Claflin is amazing.

Me Before you is highly recommended, it tackled a very sensitive subject, I believe they did not treat the subject clumsily. Go see the movie it is very uplifting made me smile and even shed a tear.

I read the book and I think it was a terrible adaptation of the book, so much was missed out that were key parts to the story. There were important parts of the book that are very necessary for the whole story that were left out.

I thought it was another chick flick before I went to see the movie but Me Before You accomplished what moviegoers would expect from a romance film. It made me smile and even made me shed a tear.

  14. I am not ashamed to say that I cried and laugh at this movie, Emilia Clark really did a nice job and has very good chemistry with Sam Claflin and really are the reason the movie is so good.
