Get Out is a horror, mystery suspense about an African American guy with a white girl friend. They are in a time of their relationship where the girl brings his African American boyfriend home to meet his parents’ upstate for the weekend.
Rose’s parents are overly accommodating to Chris whom he interprets as their attempt to deal with their interracial relationship but as the weekend progresses, very disturbing discoveries lead him to the truth which is bizarre.
The movie is a decent horror comedy but lacks the finesse of a great movie. It is loaded with black on white racism and vice versa. The story is interesting and well laid out with some interesting and surprising twists; the story slowly unfolds keeping you gripped from start to finish. It did good in combining horror and satire.
It is a good movie but I don’t think it deserves the over glowing reviews it is getting, it is a bit cheesy and reminds you of Stepford Wives. Acting job by all the actors is horrible and makes the movie like a soaped up B movie.
It stars Daniel Kaluuya as Chris, Allisson Williams as Rose, Catherine Keener as the mother Missy Armitage and Bradley Whitford as the father Dean Armitage. Directed and written by Jordan Peele.
